ABOUT REESE TIPIS - Founders Remarks

Many years ago, when our 9 children were teenagers, Catherine and I purchased a small tent and awning company so we could provide jobs for our children and give them the opportunity to learn how to work together.
Now our children are all adults, and they have given us 42 beautiful grandchildren. However, as they became adults, one by one, they became educated and found other employment. Eventually, we sold the tent and awning company, but we were so emotionally attached to the beauty and dignity of the tipi, that we could not force ourselves to give up that part of the business. So, for many years, Catherine and I have continued with the tipi business without the participation of our children, except occasionally when one or another would come and help with the cutting and sewing when we received large orders.
In 1998, our son decided to help us in the tipi business, we were very happy that our son had decided to carry on the family tradition and take over the tipi business. The quality of our tipis will be of the highest caliber. Of all of our children, none of them have learned to be more skillful or more "particular" about quality than our son. In everything that our son has ever done, he has been a perfectionist - not satisfied with anything but the very best. After our son left our employment, and before he began his military career, he became very proficient in the field of automobile upholstery, and became so skillful that he was in demand to "detail" vintage cars.
Recently our son has had personal concerns that have prevented him from building tipis - we are currently negotiating with a family friend to ensure that the paterns and procedures that Catherine and I developed are again made available to the general public. I tell you this so you will have complete confidence in the quality of your tipi, should you choose to order it.
